In the world of today, an Approved Verification Status alone is no longer enough. AI and other technologies are actively used by fraudsters to impersonate legit people. That's why we invented the QR Handshake. Let's say you met someone online who claimed to be Elon Musk and they sent you Elon's verified QR code. Once you scan the code, you can initiate the Handshake which can be answered only by the Real Owner of the QR code(Elon Musk). In the handshake, you simply select one of our predefined challenge questions that corresponds to the chat you are having with the person who gave you the QR code. The real owner of the QR code will respond to the challenge question you set. You will get their response by email from us. If the real owner of the code gets the answer wrong then you are talking to a fraudster in the chat.
1. Initiation: Your partner scans your unique Safe Trade Services QR code.
2. Challenge Setup: They enter their email and create a private challenge question like: “What is my username?” OR "What is my phone number?"
3. Identifier Generated: They instantly receive a 12-digit secure code on their screen.
4. The Signal: They send that 12-digit code to you through the chat app you’re already using (WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, X, etc.). NB: The challenge question is NOT to be shared.
5. Matching: You receive an email from Safe Trade Services. The email references the same 12-digit code.
7. Results: We send an email with the response to the person who created the challenge. E.G. The owner of this verified ID is chatting with "Username: ABC", on "Platform: XYZ"
7. Verification Complete: They verify the response to the challenge. If everything matches, the handshake is successful.
